Krylon oil rubbed bronze spray paint

DIY Glass Vase Makeover  December 27, 2007 – 09:23 am

So I had this hot pink floral vase thats been in my kitchen. It’s one of those vases that looks really great with a spring bouquet, but for the kitchen, not so great. Since I didn’t want to get rid of it or throw it away, I began growing ivy cuttings out of it. Hot pink is awesome for some things, but not a vase in your kitchen. Anyway, I decided to google some ideas to find out what I could do to remake the vase. I found that you can actually spray paint glass if youre careful and use a certain technique while spraying.

Please ignore the Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. It’s not that I have anything against Krylon. I had heard that this would be a great color to use, because it looks like brushed metal and has an antique flair to it. I only saw a black vase after using it, so I grabbed this can out of our garage and wow. All I have to say is I have found the spray paint of my dreams!

This spray paint is by Rust-oleum and is called Hammered. They have several unique colors, but this one made the vase look like a metal urn. I have no idea what color this paint is since I never found the lid. I’m sure its their bronze though. Maybe. It’s unique and antiquey looking. I realize this is probably not a real word, but I like using it.

  • Avatar julie k I primed & painted(kilz spray paint) my bathroom vanity & wall cabinet white, do I have to clear coat them?
    Mar 16, 2007 by julie k | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

I have refinished kitchen cabinets by a white washing method and had to put several coats of polyeurathane(sp) on them can I get away with an clear acrylic spray paint in the bathroom? Or do I even need to put sealer clear coat on?

    • Yes because it is the moistest, wettest place in the house and that water and steam and damage that paint and cause it to mold very quickly ( that why we have it in ours, LOL)

  • Avatar ae I used Kilz latex paint before spray painting on a styrofoam project. Part of it melted. What did I do wrong?
Sep 10, 2009 by ae | Posted in Painting

I followed the instructions as the latex paint was to be applied to prevent the styrofoam from melting. After I spray painted, part of the styrofoam still melted. Should this have happened?

    • It s possible that the Kilz wasn t applied properly to the areas that melted. The spray paint seeped through and caused the styrofoam to melt. Styrofoam does not like solvents.

    • I don t know if it comes in spray. But go to a specialty paint store, they know what you can get and what you can use it on.
